Powered Access Engineer – Remote

Full Time – THX Bedford, Bedfordshire
Hiring for both a North London and South London Position.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING?

This role will be responsible for conducting ‘onsite’ LOLER examinations and small repairs across our range of hired lifting and access equipment. This is a home-based role that will be part of a team covering our whole delivery area.

We are recruiting for two roles north and south of London which will cover the following areas: –

  • North London, Herts, Beds and Bucks, Middlesex and Essex
  • South London down to Brighton and across to Bournemouth

A home location suitable to the area you will cover is necessary. Laptop, phone, van and all tools and equipment will be provided.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Meeting the expanding engineering requirements of our increasing locations and fleet numbers, ensuring continued compliance and certification of LOLER & PUWER legislation.
  • Ensuring “on hire” LOLER inspections (6 and 12 Months) are carried out in a timely professional manner at our customer sites.
  • Ensuring accurate records are produced and maintained (with admin support).
  • Working with our customers to provide high standards of engineering support for the organisation’s rental fleet while on hire.
  • Customer contact to attend site.
  • Fully responsive mobile engineering response (on-site and by phone).
  • Maintenance, repair, service and response to breakdowns of THX’s rental fleet of MEWPS (on or off-site and by phone).
  • Ensure re-charge of repairs and other chargeable costs to the customer where applicable, in line with THX’s policies and objectives.
  • Providing support to our warehouse, workshop and driving teams as required.

WHAT WE WOULD LIKE TO SEE

Essential experience, skills & attributes for the role:

  • Relevant experience or qualifications within the powered access industry e.g. CAP, IPAF and manufacturer courses.
  • Accredited with up-to-date LOLER qualifications – Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) preferred.
  • Electrical/Hydraulic Engineering qualifications or experience and competence with schematics.
  • Proven track record of ability to inspect and repair any fault across all aspects of Access / MEWP / Lifting equipment.
  • Familiar with a variety of manufacturer’s equipment.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, operating autonomously as a key member of THX’s engineering team.
  • Good MS Office and computer literacy skills.
  • Effective planning, administration and organisation skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Safety conscious.
  • Great communication skills – both verbal and written across all disciplines and at all levels.
  • Customer-focused with a commitment to delivering excellent service.
  • Good time-management.
  • Self-motivated.

Desireable experience, skills & attributes for the role:

  • Possess a clean driving license.
