Workshop m&e – press fit lead engineer

Full Time, Great Barford, Bedfordshire.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, approx. 7:30am – 5:30pm. (Sometimes overtime may be required to meet customer demand)

what are we looking for?

Due to our continued growth and further planned expansion within the M&E sector, we require an enthusiastic, practical and proactive engineer. This will start as a workshop-based role, with the primary function to service, calibrate and repair our press tooling fleet of tools while the product knowledge is gained. After training, and with support, this role will take the ‘lead’ and be the champion for ‘press fit’ and technical M&E products supporting the warehouse and customer-facing parts of the business.

THX are increasing the range of items we can calibrate on-site and we are looking for someone to take ownership and help us develop this new growing and exciting part of the business, whilst also exploring other business opportunities in this area.

what will you be doing?

Your primary responsibilities and duties will be:

  • Cleaning & Maintaining the presentation of equipment.
  • Inspecting & Testing returned hire equipment (training provided).
  • Calibrating tools and equipment (training provided).
  • PAT test tools and equipment (training provided).
  • The repair of press fit tools (training provided).
  • To work with the team to set and improve systems and procedures.
  • Using a computer-based system for administration.
  • Proactively research and learn the products with the aim of being the ‘go-to’ person for these products in our range.
  • Providing support to our warehouse, workshop and driving teams, as required.
  • To become the lead person in setting up the ‘press station’ and developing and delivering repair and calibration services to our customers.
  • Arranging the return of customer equipment and dealing with customer enquiries with the Sales Team.

what we would like to see:

Essential experience, skills & attributes for the role:

  • The ideal candidate would have experience with M&E and PressFit equipment but we are prepared to give full training to the right person on these products.
  • Previous experience in leading a team or department.
  • Previous experience in the maintenance and/or repair of a range of equipment and tools.
  • Mechanical and/or electrical experience.
  • Previous understanding or test and calibration of in-house and customers products would be beneficial.
  • Practical understanding and mindset with the ability to work quickly and methodically.
  • Computer skills.
  • Business experience or understanding.
  • Experience of staff supervision would be of benefit, but the right attitude and being able to set an example is key.
  • Being able to hold team members accountable.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Physically fit and a hard-working team player.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A can-do attitude with a willingness to help.
  • The ability to take ownership and responsibility for your area of the business.
