Access Engineer (MEWP)

Full Time, THX Bedford, Bedfordshire – MEWP Engineer (CAP Certified)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday – 40+ Hours

We are looking for an experienced, access engineer with proven experience of LOLER Examinations and small repairs across our range of hired lifting and access equipment. Tools and equipment will be provided.

what will you be doing?

You will be responsible for:

  • Cleaning and maintaining the presentation of equipment, including touching up paint work and re-spraying.
  • Inspecting, maintaining and repairing THX’s rental fleet of MEWPS.
  • Inspecting and testing our returning hire equipment (LOLER).
  • Ensure re-charge of repairs and other chargeable costs to the customer where applicable, in line with THX’s policies.
  • Rebranding new equipment with THX stickers.
  • Ensuring accurate records are produced and maintained.
  • Regularly checking, cleaning, and tidying our workshop, warehouse.
  • Providing support to our warehouse, workshop and driving teams as required.

what would WE like to see?

Essential Skills:

  • Previous experience in the maintenance and/or repair of a range of equipment and tools.
  • Mechanical or Electrical experience.
  • Practical understanding and mindset with the ability to work quickly and methodically.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision as a member of THX’s engineering team.
  • Good MS Office and computer literacy skills.
  • Good with paperwork and accurate documentation.
  • Excellent decision-making skills – both verbal and written across all disciplines and at all levels.
  • hard-working team player.
  • A can-do attitude with a willingness to help out.
  • Ability to concentrate whilst doing repetitive tasks.

Ideal Skills:

  • We are keen to find a team member who has relevant experience or qualifications within the powered access industry, e.g. CAP, IPAF and manufacturer courses.
  • Be accredited with up-to date LOLER qualifications – Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) preferred.
  • Proven track record of ability to inspect and repair any fault across all aspects of Access / MEWP / Lifting Equipment.
  • Electrical/hydraulic engineering qualifications or time served – competent with schematics.
  • Familiar with a variety of manufacuters’ equipment.

Transferable Skills:

  • Relevant experience in any other field of inspection and or repair from a similar industry (forklift, plant hire or mechanics).
  • Experience and an understanding of LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations).
  • An electrical/hydraulic engineering qualification, or time served, plus competence with schematics.
